Solar Panel project

R.A Jones Cuts Ribbon on Solar Panel Project

The event marks a significant milestone in R.A Jones’ commitment to sustainability.

R.A Jones celebrated the completion of the employee-driven solar panel project on July 16, 2024. During its 30-year life span, the system will offset 33,200 tons of atmospheric CO2, which is equivalent to planting nearly half a million trees.

Employees from every department at the Covington, Kentucky facility come out to celebrate the occasion, along with representatives from Melink Solar and other local businesses.

Ribbon Cutting

CEO Jonathon Titterton and the employees behind the project and event did the honor of cutting the ribbon on the project.

With a commitment to sustainability at the forefront of our company values, the achievement marked a pivotal moment in our journey towards reducing our carbon footprint.

Over three years in the making, the project scope included collaborating with Melink Solar on the design, build, and installation of nearly 4,000 solar power panels—that’s enough to cover approximately 85% of the roof at the 250,000 square foot facility. The system now generates enough zero-carbon electricity to power more than half of the facility’s energy needs.

This is great news for manufacturers looking to reduce their overall carbon footprint. Utilizing clean energy solutions down the supply chain as equipment suppliers is one of the many steps R.A Jones is taking to bring forth a greener future.

Other sustainability efforts from R.A Jones include engineering machines and solutions that replace plastic packaging with recyclable materials, such as our Wraptor multipacker and Pouch King technology.

The solar panel initiative also included the addition of six electric vehicle charging stations, free to R.A Jones employees. R.A Jones, a Coesia company, is proud to take part in eCoesia efforts to provide responsible manufacturing solutions. By 2030, Coesia aims to source 100% of its electricity from renewable resources.

R.A Jones is the first Coesia company in North America to power its facility with a solar panel system, and it’s not stopping in Kentucky. The R.A Jones Davenport location will be next to switch to clean, solar energy, scheduled to be completed in 2025.

“We’re so happy with what’s happening here, we’re going to do the same in our other facility in Davenport, Iowa,” says R.A Jones CEO Jonathan Titterton.

As we continue to innovate and integrate eco-friendly technologies across our operations and for every industry, we reaffirm our commitment to pioneering sustainable practices without sacrificing the efficiency or reliability we are known for.
